At the 38th convention of the fraternity in Montreal, Canada, during the week of August 14-20, 1960, a plan was approved for the erection of an Ahepa Home for Elderly Members, on our Florida property, which is located between the cities of Clearwater and Tarpon Springs. The initial project will consist of 192 living units, surrounding an administration building, chapel, and auditorium, and recreation facilities. This initial step will utilize 60 acres of our total of 349 acres of land. TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF VOLUNTARY At a meeting in Austin, March 28, 1960, the citizens of Texas formed a new association, young in years, but concerned with the care of our Texas aged. The "Texas Association of Voluntary Nonprofit Homes for the Aged" was officially called into being and a constitution, officers, and program for the year were selected. The newly adopted constitution of the association states under its purpose: 1. To provide an organization that will allow a free interchange of ideas and thinking that will benefit the members of the association and the people they serve. 2. To promote the education and interest of all parties concerned with the administration of voluntary homes for the aged. The board members of said homes and other interested or allied persons or agencies through communication and formal training programs. 3. To maintain the highest possible standards of care for aged persons through the development of ethical and professional criteria. 4. To aid and assist any person or group in the interpretation of legislation pertinent to the care of the aged.
