Wednesday, Honolulu, February 17, 1909. The Members of the House of Representatives for the Regular Session of the Legislature of 1909, met in the Assembly Hall, Capitol Building, at 10:00 A. M., Honorable G. F. Affonso, Representative from the First District, Temporary Speaker, in the Chair. The Divine Blessing was invoked by the Rev. S. L. Desha of Hilo. The Temporary Chairman stated that the first order of business would be the election of a temporary Clerk, whereupon the name of Mr. Edward Woodward was placed in nomination by Mr. Castro, and seconded by Mr. Rice. The nomination being closed by motion duly made and seconded, Mr. Woodward was declared elected temporary Clerk. For the office of temporary Interpreter the name of Mr. Wm. H. Beers was placed in nɔmination by Mr. Kaleiopu and seconded by Mr. Rice. The nominations being closed Mr. Beers was declared duly elected temporary Interpreter, Mr. Rice moved the appointment of the Committee on Credentials to consist of three members, to be appointed by the Chair, which motion was duly seconded and carried. The Chair appointed the following: Messrs. C. A. Rice, J. Nakaleka and M. T. Furtado. Mr. S. P. Correa moved that a recess be taken for the purpose of allowing the Committee on Credentials time to prepare its report, which motion was duly seconded and carried. On reconvening after a recess of fifteen minutes, Chairman Rice presented the report of the Committee on Credentials, (Special Com. Rep. No. 1), as follows: Hon. G. F.
