CALL FOR SPECIAL STATE CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION

DEPARTMENT OF MASSACHUSETTS
THE AMERICAN LEGION

In accordance with the instructions of the State Executive Committee, I, Edward L. Logan, Commander, Department of Massachusetts, The American Legion, do hereby call a special convention of the Department of Massachusetts, The American Legion, to be opened at Faneuil Hall, Boston, Mass., on Jan. 3, 1920, at 11 A.M.

PURPOSE.

To make such changes in the State Constitution as will bring it into conformity with the National Constitution.

To make such changes in the By-Laws as may be necessary.

To take such action as may be necessary on the question of dues and finance. To receive a report of action at the First National Constitutional Convention of The American Legion.

To transact such other business as may properly come before the Convention.

REPRESENTATION.

In this Convention representation shall be by Posts. Each Post shall be entitled to one delegate. For each one hundred paid-up members and any major fraction of one hundred paid-up members at midnight, Dec. 20, 1919, each Post is entitled to one additional delegate.

The vote of each Post shall be equal to the total number of delegates to which that Post is entitled.

There shall be no alternates.

POST NOTICE TO MEMBERS.

Post commanders will insure that all members of their Posts are given opportunity to participate in the selection of delegates, and that their Posts in proportion to their members are fully represented in the Special State Convention.

Only paid-up members are entitled to elect delegates and have a voice in the conduct of the affairs of the Post. A man is held to be a paid-up member when 50 cents of his initial payment shall have been received at State Headquarters, provided he was enrolled prior to Nov. 11, 1919. A man who was enrolled subsequent to Nov. 11, 1919, is held to be a paid-up member when $1.25 of his initial payment shall have been received at State Headquarters, such payment placing him in good standing until Dec. 31, 1920.
