III. IV. And it is hereby enacted by the authority aforefaid, That Contributors all and every contributor and contributors upon this act, duly paying the paying the confideration or purchase-money at the rate aforefaid, purchate moat or before the refpective days or times in this act before limit- ney to be ined in that behalf, for fuch annuity or annuities as aforefaid, or fuch as he, she, or they fhall appoint, his, her, or their respective executors, adminiftrators, fucceffors or affigns, fhall have, receive, and enjoy, and be intitled by virtue of this act, to have, receive, and enjoy the refpective annuity and annuities fo to be purchased out of the monies by this act appropriated or appointed for payment thereof as aforefaid, and fhall have good and fure eftates and interefts therein for ever, fubject only to the provifo or condition of redemption, in this act afterwards contained, concerning the fame; and that all the faid annuities which fhall be to be purchased on this act, and the principal monies paid for free of taxes. the fame, and every of them, during the continuance thereof, fhall be free from all taxes, charges, and impofitions whatfo

V. nuity attending the fame, be immediately transferrable (except the ten pounds per centum, which is to remain as a depofit till payment of the whole fum by him, her, or them fubfcribed for, is fully completed) it fhall be lawful for the faid accomptant general, and he is hereby required upon fuch request made by any fuch contributor or contributors, to give credit in the said book or books, for each refpective principal fum, by him, her, or them subscribed and paid as aforefaid; any thing herein contained to the contrary notwithstanding.

VI. And for the more easy and fure payment of the said annuities to be purchased as aforefaid, according to the true meaning of this prefent act; it is hereby enacted by the authority aBank to em- forefaid, That the faid governor and company of the bank of plov a chief England, and their fucceffors, fhall from time to time, until the faid annuities fhall be redeemed by parliament according to this general, for act, appoint and employ one fufficient perton within their office payment of in the city of London, to be their chief or first cashier or cashiers, the annuities; and one other fufficient perfon within the fame office, to be their accomptant general; and that fo much of the monies of the faid furpluffes, exceffes, or overplus monies of the fund, commonly called the Sinking fund, which fhall or ought to be, from time to time, feparated and fet apart in the faid receipt of exchequer, for answering the faid annuities to be purchased upon this act, after the faid rate of three pounds per centum per annum, shall by order of the commiffioners of his Majefty's treafury, or any three or more of them now being, or of the high treasurer, or commiffioners of the treasury of his Majefty, his heirs and fucceffors for the time being, without any further or other warrant to be fued for, had, or obtained in that behalf, be, from time nies to be paid to time, half-yearly as aforefaid, iffued and paid at the said reto them half- ceipt of exchequer, to the faid first or chief cashier or cashiers yearly at the of the faid governor and company of the bank of England, and exchequer, by of their fucceffors for the time being, by way of impreft, and way of imupon account of the payment of the faid annuities fo purchased upon this act, at fuch times, and in fuch manner and form, as are by this act prefcribed in that behalf; and that all and every cashier and cashiers, to whom the said monies fhall, from time to time be iffued, thall from time to time, without delay, apply and pay the fame accordingly, and render his accounts thereof, according to the due courfe of the exchequer; any thing herein contained to the contrary notwithstanding.

VII. VIII. IX. X. XI. Provided always, and it is hereby enacted by the authority aforefaid, That the faid governor and company of the bank of England, and their fucceffors (notwithstanding the redemption of all or any of their own funds in purfuance of the acts for eftablishing the fame, or any of them) fhall continue a corporation, with all the powers, privileges, and advantages thereunto belonging, for the purposes in this act expreffed, till all the annuities to be purchafed on this act, fhall be redeemed by parliament, according to the provifo herein after contained in that behalf; and that the faid governor and company or any members thereof, fhall not incur any difability, for or by reason of their doing any matter or thing in pursuance of this act.

XII. And it is hereby enacted by the authority aforesaid, That no fee or gratuity whatsoever fhall or may be demanded or taken of any of his Majefty's fubjects for receiving or paying the faid contribution monies, or any of them, or for any tallies, or other receipts concerning the fame, or for iffuing the faid yearly fund, or any part thereof, or for paying the faid annuities, or any of them; and that no fee or gratuity fhall be demanded or taken for any transfer of any fum great or fmall, to be made in purfuance of this act, upon pain that the officer or perfon offending, by taking or demanding any fee or gratuity contrary to this upon penalty act, fhall forfeit the fum of twenty pounds to the party grieved, to be recovered with full cofts of fuit, in any of his Majefty's courts of record at Westminster.

Treasury to XIII. Provided always, and it is hereby enacted, That the defray charg- commiffioners of the treafury, or any three or more of them now being, or the high treasurer, or any three or more of the commiffioners of the treasury for the time being, fhall have power, and they are hereby authorized to reward all fuch perfons as fhall be any ways employed in the execution of this act, for their fervice, pains, and labour, and alfo to defray fuch incident charges as fhall neceffarily attend the fame, out of the faid furpluffes, exceffes, or overplus monies; and also to appoint fuch allowances (out of the faid furpluffes, exceffes, or overplus monies) for the fervice, pains, and labour of the cashier or cashiers of the faid governor and company of the bank of

England,

England, for receiving, paying, and accounting for the said annuities made payable by this act; and alfo for the fervice, pains, and trouble of the accomptant general of the faid governor and company for performing the duty and truft incumbent on him by this act, as they fhall think just and reasonable: all which allowances hereby impowered to be made as aforefaid, in refpect of the fervice, pains, and labour of any officer or officers of the faid governor and company of the bank of England, shall be for the ufe and benefit of the faid governor and company, and at their difpofal only; any thing herein contained to the contrary notwithstanding.

XIV. Provided alfo, and it is hereby enacted by the authori- Clause of rety aforefaid, That at any time, upon one year's notice to be demption. printed in the London Gazette, and affixed upon the Royal Exchange in London, by authority of parliament, at any of the halfyearly feast days for payment of the faid annuities, and upon repayment by parliament of the principal fum of one million, by payments not being lefs than five hundred thousand pounds. at a time, for which the said annuities fhall be payable to such refpective perfons or corporations as fhall be intitled to the fame annuities; and alfo upon full payment of all arrearages of the fame annuities; then, and not till then, the faid annuities fhall ceafe and determine, and be understood to be redeemed; and from and after fuch redemption, the monies arifing by the faid furpluffes, exceffes, or overplus monies of the fund, commonly called the Sinking fund, fhall not be iffued or applied to any ufe or purpose, other than fuch uses and purposes as have been directed by any former act or acts of parliament in that behalf; any thing in this or any former act or acts of parliament to the contrary notwithstanding: and that any vote or refolution of the houfe of commons, fignified by the fpeaker in writing, to be inferted in the London Gazette, and affixed on the Royal Exchange in London, as aforefaid, thall be deemed and adjudged to be fufficient notice within the words and meaning of this act.
