T the parliament begun and bolden at Westminster, the twenty-ninth day of November, Anno Domini 1774, in the fifteenth year of the reign of our fovereign lord GEORGE the Third, by the grace of God, of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, King, defender of the faith, &c. Being the firft feffion of the fourteenth parliament of Great Britain.

CAP: I.

An act to allow the importation of Indian corn and maize, under certain reftrictions.

II. And whereas the free importation of potatoes and pulse from Ireland, may be advantageous, be it enacted, That during the con- Potatoes, &c. tinuance of this act, potatoes, and all kinds of pulfe, may be imported into Great Britain from Ireland free of duty.

An act for defraying the charge of the pay and cloathing of the militia in that part of Great Britain called England, for one year, beginning the twenty fifth day of March, one thousand feven hundred and feventyfive.

CA P. X.

An act to reftrain the trade and commerce of the provinces of Maffachufet's Bay and New Hampshire, and colonies of Connecticut and Rhode Island, and Providence Plantation, in North America, to Great Britain, Ireland, and the British islands in the Weft Indies; and to prohibit fuch provinces and colonies from carrying on any fishery on the banks of Newfoundland, or other places therein mentioned, under certain conditions and limitations.

THEREAS by an act, made in the twelfth year of the reign of king Charles the Second, intituled, An act for the en12 Car. 2. re- couraging and increafing of shipping and navigation; and by feveral fubfequent acts of parliament which are now in force, it is, amongst other things, enacted, That for every ship or vessel which shall load any commodities, in thofe acis particularly enumerated, at any British plantation, being the growth, product, or manufacture thereof, bonds fhall be given, with one furety, to the value of one thousand pounds, if the hip be of lefs burthen than one bundred tons, and of the Jum of two thousand pounds, if the ship be of greater burthen, that the fame commodities shall be brought by such ship or vessel to fome other British plantation, or to fome port in Great Britain: and whereas, by feveral other acts of parliament which are now in force, no commodities of the growth, product, or manufacture of Europe, (except falt for the fisheries, wines of the Madeiras and Azores and Western Iflands, and victual and linen cloth from Ireland, under the reftrictions in fuch as particularly mentioned), can be imported into any plantation, colony, territory, or place, belonging to his Majesty, in Afia, Africa, or America, but what shall be bona fide, and without fraud, laden and shipped in Great Britain, and carried directly from thence: and whereas, during the continuance of the combinations and diforders, which at this time prevail within the provinces of Maffachufet's Bay and New Hampshire, and the colonies of Connecticut and Rhode Ifland, to the obftruction of the commerce of thefe kingdoms, and other bis Majefty's dominions, and in breach and violation of the laws of this realm, it is highly unfit that the inhabitants of the faid provinces and colonies fhould enjoy the fame privileges of trade, and the fame benefits and advantages to which his Majesty's faithful and obedient fubAfter July 1, jets are intitled; be it therefore enacted by the King's moft excellent majefty, by and with the advice and consent of the lords goods, wares, fpiritual and temporal, and commons, in this prefent parliament &c. enumerat- affembled, and by the authority of the fame, That from and afed in, and by ter the first day of July, one thousand feven hundred and feventybeing the five, and during the continuance of this act, no goods, wares, growth, pro- or merchandifes, which are particularly enumerated in, and by duct, &c. of the faid act made in the twelfth year of king Charles the Second, Maffachufet's Bay, &c. are to or any other act, being the growth, product, or manufacture of be brought in the provinces of Maffachufet's Bay, or New Hampshire, or coloto fome other nies of Connecticut, Rhode Island, or Providence Plantation, in British colony, North America, or any or either of them, are to be brought to some other British colony, or to Great Britain; or any fuch enu

II.
