men on board. Penalty on putting a boat to fea, &c. before the warp-rope

put to fea till the first boat bath thot her feyne. When feyne is partly fhot
in one stem, the remainder may be shot in the adjoining ftem, if the fish

thither. When feyne is fhot, it may be worked through and moored
in any other ftem. Two feynes may be moored together, with 10 anchors
on th. north and fouth fides of fuch feynes. When the anchors of the
outermoft feynes drive, the owners of such seynes to replace the feyne. One
anchor to the bunt of every feyne. Seyne that is firft moored to attend
the mooring of every other feyne. Penalty for cutting off any rope be-
longing to feynes, &c. Provifo, relating to veffels going into or out of
harbour. Times for fhooting the feynes upon the feveral items or fta-
tions. Owners of feynes, fhooting at improper times, to forfeit 20l. for
each offence. Commencement, &c. of fhooting the feynes to be made
known by a fignal. At what times the boats having turn on one stem,
may fhoot their feyne nets within the limits of another ftem. Register to

An act for allowing the exportation of certain quantities of wheat, and other articles, to his Majesty's fugar colonies in America, and to the island of Saint Helena, and to the other fettlements belonging to the united company of merchants of England trading to the Eaft Indies, and of bifcuit and peafe to Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Bay Chaleur, and Labrador; and for indemnifying all perfons with respect to advising or carrying into execution his Majefty's orders of council already made for allowing the exportation of wheat, and other articles,

HEREAS by an act of parliament, made in the thirteenth year of his Majefty's reign, (intituled, An act to regulate the importation and exportation of corn), whenever the prices of certain fpecies of British corn or grain exceed the prices therein limited, the exportation thereof from this kingdom is prohibited under certain penalties in the faid all mentioned, except in particular cafes allowed by that and feveral fubfequent acts of parliament: and whereas cer tain quantities of wheat, meal, flour, bread, and biscuit, which were allowed to be exported to the British fugar colonies in America, for the fuftenance and ufe of the inhabitants of the faid colonies, and certain quantities of bifcuit and peafe allowed to be exported to the island of Newfoundland, for the benefit of the British fishery there, by two feveral acts of parliament, made in the fourteenth year of the reign of

his prefent Majefly, the one intituled, An act to allow the exporta tion of corn, grain, and other articles, to his Majefty's fugar colonies in America; and to extend the provisions of an act, made in the last feffion of parliament, (intituled, An act to regulate the importation and exportation of corn), allowing the exportation of wheat, meal, flour, rye, barley, or malt, to the islands of Guernfey and ferfey, to bread, bifcuit, and peafe; and to allow the exportation of all the faid articles to the island of Alderney: and the other intituled, An act to allow the exportation of a limited quantity of bifcuit and pease to the island of Newfoundland, for the benefit of the British fishery there; have been rendered infufficient by the interruption which has been given to trade, and the trou bles and difturbances which are fill fubfifting in many of the colonies in North America, and the inhabitants of the faid fugar colonies, and the British fubjects carrying on the fishery at Newfoundland, and at other parts in America, may be put under great difficulties and diftrefs at this time, without further fupplies from this kingdom: may it therefore please your Majefty that it may be enacted; and be it enacted by the King's moft excellent majefty, by and with the advice and confent of the lords fpiritual and temporal, and commons, in this prefent parliament affembled, and by the authority of the fame, That, from and after the paffing of this Certain quanact, it shall and may be lawful to fhip and export, from the ties of wheat, ports of London, Bristol, Liverpoole, and Glasgow only, any quan-wed to be bread,&c. altity of wheat, wheat flour, bread, bifcuit, and meal, that is to exported from fay, Not exceeding in the whole, from the port of London, fifty London, Brithousand quarters; from the port of Bristol, twenty thousand ftol, Liverquarters; from the port of Liverpoole, twenty thousand quarters, poole, and and from the port of Port Glasgow, ten thoufand quarters; at Glasgow. any time or times before the first day of January, one thousand feven hundred and feventy-feven, to his Majefty's sugar colonies in America, for the fuftenance and ufe of the inhabitants of the faid colonies: and that it fhall and may be lawful to ship and export biscuit and peafe, out of and from the feveral ports in this cuit and peafe kingdom herein-after mentioned, to the feveral places herein- allowed to be after named, for the benefit of the British fishery carried on in exported to those parts, so as the fame do not exceed the feveral quantities land, &c. for refpectively limited to thofe places, any thing in the faid recited the benefit of acts, or either of them, to the contrary notwithstanding; (that the fishery, is to fay),

II. And whereas by an act, passed in the thirteenth year of his prefent Majesty's reign, (intituled, An act to regulate the importation and

exportation of corn) it was (amongst other things) enacted, That nothing therein contained should extend to prohibit the exportation from the port of London, to the island of Saint Helena, of any quantity of wheat, meal, flour, rye, barley, or malt, not exceeding five hundred quarters in the whole, for the fuftenance and use of the inhabitants thereof, under the restrictions and upon the conditions therein mentioned: and whereas the said quantity of five hundred quarters of wheat, meal, ftour, rye, barley, or malt, is not fufficient for the neceffary ufe and confumption of the faid island of Saint Helena, and for the united East India company's fettlements in the East Indies; be it therefore enacted by the authority aforefaid, That, from and af- Eaft India ter the paffing of this act, it shall be lawful for the faid united company imcompany to export annually from Great Britain to the faid ifland powered to of Saint Helena, Bencoolen, and to their fettlements in the Eaft ally 1000 quarludies, or any of them, any quantity of wheat, wheat meal, flour, ters of wheat, rye, barley, or malt, not exceeding one thousand quarters in the flour,&c. from whole, under the restrictions and upon the terms and conditions to Saint Helein the faid recited act provided and contained, as refpecting the na,Bencoolen, quantity of wheat, and other articles, thereby allowed to be ex- &c. ported to the faid island of Saint Helena; any thing in the faid recited act contained to the contrary thereof notwithstanding. · III. Provided always, and it is hereby further enacted by the authority aforesaid, That the faid articles exported as aforefaid, The faid artiin pursuance of this act, fhall be fubject to the like fecurities at ject to the like the refpective ports from whence they are exported, that the fecurities, &c. fame thall not be landed or fold in any parts whatsoever other on exportathan the refpective places for which the fame fhall be entered and tion, as directdeclared for exportation, and in all other refpects not altered by Geo. 3. ed by act 14 this act shall be liable to fuch and the like rules, reftrictions, and regulations; and the perfons granting or making any false certificate, or counterfeiting, erafing, or falfifying any certificate, or knowingly publishing fuch certificate fo counterfeited, crased, or falfified, fhall be fubject to the fame difabilities, penalties, and forfeitures, as are refpectively prefcribed and directed by the faid recited acts, made in the fourteenth year of his Majefty's reign; which penalties and forfeitures fhall and may be fued for, profecuted, and recovered, and applied, in the manner directed by those acts.

IV. And whereas his Majefty, by an order in council, bearing date the thirtieth day of June laft, was pleafed to order that a quantity of bifcuit, not exceeding one thousand tons, fhould be allowed to be exported to Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Bay Chaleur, and Labrador, from the date thereof, until the twenty-fourth day of July following, which time was afterwards prolonged by his Majefty's further order in council, bearing date the eleventh day of Augult laft; and his Majefty, by another order in council, bearing date the twelfth day of July last, was pleafed to order that two hundred tons of bifcuit fhould be allowed to be exported to Newfoundland, from the port of Liverpoole; and alfa that fifty tons of bifcuit, and one hundred quarters of peafe, fhould be allowed to be exported from the port of Weymouth; and likewife two hundred quarters of peafe from the port of Poole; which faid

orders could not be juftified according to the frict forms of law, and yet were fo much for the fervice of the publick, and so neceflary for the fafety and prefervation of his Majesty's fubjects in those parts, that the fame ought to be justified by act of parliament; and all perfons advifing, acting under, or in obedience to the fame indemnified; be it therefore enacted by the authority aforefaid, That all and Claufe for in- every perfon and perfons who have or fhall have acted or done demnifying all any thing in advising or executing the faid orders of council, or perfons adtouching or concerning the fame, or relating thereto, fhall be vifing or executing certain and are hereby faved harmlefs, difcharged, acquitted, released, and indemnified in that behalf, as well against the King's majefty, his heirs and fucceffors, as against all and every other perfon and perfons; and all fuits and proceedings for any manner of thing difcharged by this prefent act, fhall be utterly void and of none effect, to all intents and purposes; any law, ftatute, or ufage, to the contrary notwithstanding.

An act for the relief of insolvent debtors; and for the relief of bankrupts, in certain cafes.

WHEREAS many persons, by losses and other misfortunes, are

rendered incapable of paying their whole debts; and though they are willing to make the utmost fatisfaction they can, and many of them are able to ferve his Majefty by fea or land, yet are detained in prifon by their creditors, or have been forced to go into foreign parts out of this realm: and whereas fuch unhappy debtors have always been deemed the proper objects of publick compaffion, and, by several acts of parliament, have been difcharged on the conditions in fuch acts mentioned; for the relief, therefore, of infolvent prisoners and fugitives, who fhall comply with the terms contained in this act, to be respectively obferved by them, and faithfully difcover upon oath, and deliver up and affign all their effects and eftates whatsoever, for the benefit of their creditors, and to prevent, as far as poffible, the many frauds and abufes, which, in a great measure, have obftructed the good ends of fuch acts; be it enacted by the King's most excellent majefty, by and with the advice and consent of the lords fpiritual and temporal, and commons, in this present parliament affembled, and Alphabetical by the authority of the fame, That, from and after the paffing of this act, all and every gaoler or keeper of any prifon, in any county, riding, divifion, city, town, place, or liberty, within this kingdom, fhall, is, and are hereby required to make a true, exact, and perfect lift, alphabetically, of the name or names of all and every perfon or perfons, who, upon the twenty-fecond day of January, one thoufand feven hundred and feventy-fix, was or were, or at any time fince have been, under the terms and conditions herein mentioned, and at the time of making out every fuch lift fhall be, really an actual prifoner or prisoners, in the cuftody of any gaoler or gaolers, keeper or keepers of any prison respectively, upon any process whatfoever, for or by reafon of any debt, damage, cofts, fum or fums of money, con
