VIII. And whereas it is the intent and meaning of this act, that the feveral prohibitions and restraints herein-before enacted should be difcontinued and ceafe, fo foon as the trade and commerce of his Majefy's fubjects may be carried on without interruption within the faid colonies; be it therefore enacted by the authority aforefaid, That Whenever it whenever it shall be made appear, to the fatisfaction of his Ma-hall appear to the governor jefty's governor or commander in chief, and the majority of the of New Jerfey, council of the colonies of New Jersey, Penfylvania, Maryland, &c. that peace Virginia, and South Carolina, that peace and obedience to the laws is fo far rethall be fo far reftored within the faid colonies, or either of them, faid colonies, that the trade and commerce of his Majefty's fubjects may be that trade may carried on without interruption within the fame, and that goods, be carried on, wares, and merchandise, have been freely imported into the faid he is to notify colonies, or either of them, from Great Britain, and expofed to the fame by fale, without any let, hindrance, or moleftation, from or by reafon of any unlawful combinations to prevent or obstruct the faine; and that goods, wares, and merchandise, have in like manner been exported from the faid colonies, or either of them respectively, to Great Britain, for and during the term of one calendar month preceding; that then, and in fuch case, it shall and may be lawful for the governor or commander in chief, with the advice of the council of fuch colonies refpectively, by proclama tion, under the feal of fuch respective colony, to notify the fame to the feveral officers of the customs, and all others; and after fuch proclamation, this act, with refpect to fuch colony, within which fuch proclamation or proclamations have been iffued as aforesaid, fhall be difcontinued and cease, (except as herein-after provided;) and all officers of his Majefty's customs, and all other and all officers of the customs,

X. And it is hereby further enacted by the authority aforePerfons giving faid, That if any perfon or perfons fhall give or grant any false certificate, cocket, or clearance, for any of the purposes required terfeiting, &c. or directed by this act, fuch perfon or perfons fhall forfeit the sum of five hundred pounds, and be rendered incapable of fervforfeit gool.ing his Majefty, his heirs and fucceffors, in any office whatsoever; and if any perfon or perfons fhall counterfeit, erase, alter, or falfify any certificate, cocket, or clearance, required or directed by this act, or shall knowingly or willingly make use of any falfe certificate, cocket, or clearance, or of any certificate, cocket, or clearance, so counterfeited, erased, altered, or falfified, fuch perfon or perfons fhall, for every fuch offence, forfeit the fum of five hundred pounds; and fuch certificate, cocket, or clearance, fhall be invalid and of no effect.

And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, That and forfeitures the feveral forfeitures and penalties inflicted by this act shall and may be profecuted and ap may be profecuted, fued for, and recovered, and be divided, paid, and applied, in like manner as other penalties and forfeitures, inflicted by any act or acts of parliament relating to the trade or revenues of the British colonies or plantations in America, are directed to be profecuted, fued for, or recovered, divided, paid, and applied, by two feveral acts of parliament, the one paffed in the fourth year of his prefent Majefty, intituled, An alt for granting certain duties in the British colonies and plantations in America; for continuing, amending, and making perpetual an act, paffed in the fixth year of the reign of his late majesty King George the Second, intituled, An act for the better fecuring and encouraging the trade of his Majefty's fugar colonies in America; for applying the product of fuch duties, and of the duties to arife by virtue of the faid act, towards defraying the expences of defending, protecting, and fecuring, the faid colonies and plantations; for explaining an act made in the twenty-fifth year of the reign of King Charles the Second intituled, An act for the encouragement of the Greenland and Eastland trades, and for the better fecuring the plantation trade; and for altering and difallowing several drawbacks on exports from this kingdom, and more effectually preventing the clandeftine conveyance of goods to and from the faid colonies and plantations, and improving and fecuring the trade between the fame and Great Britain; and the other, paffed in the eighth year of his prefent Majefty's reign, intituled, An act for the more eafy and effectual recovery of the pe

XII. WHEREAS by an act, paffed in the fourteenth year of the Preamble. reign of his prefent Majefly, (intituled, An act for rebuild- Act 14 Geo. 3` ing the office of the fix clerks of the King's court of chancery, and for erecting offices for the register and accountant general of the faid court, for the better preferving the records, decrees, or ders, and books of account, kept in fuch offices,) it is, amongst ether things enacted, That out of the funds therein particularly mentioned, after paying and defraying the charges and expences attending the paffing and obtaining the faid act, a fum of ten thousand pounds be applied, as the lord high chancellor of Great Britain, or lord keeper,

ar lords commiffioners for the cuftody of the great feal of Great Britain for the time being, fhall, in his or their difcretion, deem neceffary, in erecting proper and convenient offices for the faid register and accountant general of the faid court, feparate and detached from each other; and in purchasing such ground and boufes as fhall be neceffary for thofe purposes; and for preferving the ancient books of entries of decrees and orders of the faid court; and that the ground and houses to be purchased for the purpose of erecting the faid offices for the faid regifter and accountant general be conveyed to and vested in Thomas Anguilh, efquire, accountant general of the faid court, and his fucceffors in the faid office for the time being, for ever, in truft, to and for the purposes in the faid act mentioned, concerning the offices of the faid regifler and accountant general, and for no other ufe or purpose whatfoever and whereas the bonourable fociety of Lincoln's Inn ere. owners of a convenient spot of ground, part of the ancient garden belonging to the faid fociety, which will in all refpects anfwer the purpofes intended by the faid recited act, upon which the faid offices may be erected, fufficiently detached from any other buildings, and the worshipful the maffers of the bench of the faid fociety have agreed to difpofe of fo much ground, part of the faid garden, as fhall be necessary for the purpose of erecting the faid offices, to be applied to that ufe, (to wit,) All that piece or parcel of ground, fituate on the east fide of the garden next Chancery Lane, abutting fouth on a way intended to be made into the faid inn; east, on ground adjoining to Chancery Lane aforefaid, intended to be laid open; north, on ground granted, or agreed to be granted, to the fix clerks, whereon an office is intended to be erected; and weft, on ground alfo belonging to the faid fociety, intended to be laid open: containing in breadth from east to west, at the fouth end, Seventy-Seven feet feven inches of affize, with a break northward of four inches in the centre of the faid fouth end thirty-four feet in length; containing in length, from north to fouth, on the eaft fide, ninety-seven feet ten inches and three quarters of affize, with a break westward of eleven feet fix inches and an half in the faid eaft fide, commencing at the diftance of twenty-one feet nine inches and an half from the South end; and containing in breadth from east to west, at the north end, fifty-four feet fix inches of affize; and in length from north to fouth, on the weft fide, ninety-feven feet ten inches and three quarters of offize, with a break eastward of eleven feet fix inches and an half in the faid weft fide, commencing at the distance of twenty-one feet nine inches and an half from the fouth end, which piece or parcel of ground is fituated on a parallel with the buildings now carrying on in the faid garden, and commences on the north boundary thereof at the dif tance of forty-two feet nine inches fouthward of the centre of the faid buildings; and the faid ground bath been approved by the right honourable the lord high chancellor, as proper for the fcite of the faid buildings; but in as much as the foil and freehold of the faid garden is vested in trustees, upon truft for the faid fociety, and a good title cannot be made to the faid spot of ground without the aid of parlia ment; be it therefore enacted by the King's moft excellent majefty, by and with the advice and confent of the lords fpiritual and temporal, and commons, in this prefent parliament affem
