it was amazing

In this book, Tolle says nothing new, nothing original and nothing profound. The content isn't what makes this book a great one. The novelty of the question/answer format wears off as soon as questions not concerning oneself are asked and answered. The ideas are driven home using tautologies, condescending commands and exhortations to an abstract quality of "being" which the author cannot describe nor can the reader experience using mere words. Then why is this book sublime?

It is so because it makes enlightenment seem accessible to even mildly interested spiritual seekers such as myself. The underlying cohesion in Tolle's conception of the truth, reality and the stillness make it easy for the reader to believe in the context of his vision. The book is hardly about the practices he suggests, the anecdotes he shares or the interpretations he weaves (though even in those aspects, it is hard to find a flaw), but it is rather about levelling the playing field in the search for elevated consciousness.

Tolle doesn't care what you've struggled with, how long you've struggled, why you've struggled and for what purpose. His simple message is that the struggle can end, and it can end Now, rather than at any other time. The 1 star reviews here are people who either aren't aware of their struggle or aren't ready to end it- the timing matters a lot with books like these.

For me, In practice, harnessing the power of now is easier said than done. But it is possible and I have Eckhart to thank for, for setting me off on this journey.
