Mr. Putter and his lovely neighbor Mrs. Teaberry are close friends who share kiwis and eggplant. When Mrs. Teaberry hurts her foot and is bedridden, she asks Mr. Putter to walk her dream dog, Zeke. Mr. Putter, joined by his devoted cat Tabby, finds that Zeke is more of a nightmare than a dream. Zeke chases dogs through strange houses, wraps Mr. Putter and Tabby around trees and tugs through creeks and yards. Mr. Putter devises a plan to change Zeke's behavior and make him more co-operative. Author Cynthia Rylant has written more than forty books for children including Missing May, winner of the 1993 John Newbery Medal. She has several well-fed pets. ( )

Mr. Putter and cat Tabby take their neighbor's dog for a walk. The dog is really excited.

It's a realistic book because of it's real. ( )

“Mr. Putter & Tabby Walk the Dog” is by Cynthia Rylant. Mrs. Teaberry broke her foot and Mr. Putter said, “I can take care of your dog”, but there was a problem – Zeke the dog was a nightmare. I like this book because it is really silly. My favorite character is Tabby because Tabby is cute. I feel like students in 1st grade would like this book. I give this book four out of five stars! - Philip Kim, Tulip Class, February 2018

I love this series and am every so thankful that kids do, too. I really want to be neighbors to Mr. Putter and Mrs. Teaberry.  I don't know what it is, but this one, the second in the series (but about the 20th I've read), is not quite as strong as many of the others. ( )

Mr. Putter and his cat Tabby agree to walk their neighbor's dog. They soon learn they have gotten in over their heads. Eventually, though, they all find a way to get along. Children will be excited to read through the chapters and enjoy the funny antics of the pets. ( )

In this book, a man named Mr. Putter has a cat named Tabby. He lived next door to Mrs. Teaberry and her small dog, Zeke. She hurts her foot and she is told not to walk Zeke. Mr. Putter offers to take Zeke on his walks. He tugged them around, he wrapped them around trees, and he even chased large dogs. The next day Mr. Putter told him to be a dream dog and he would get a surprise. He agreed and he acted so good that he got to go to Frosty Freeze and get a hot fudge sundae with extra cherries. he also got to go to the pool and the carnival. He also took him to the zoo. They dropped him off back at Mrs. Teaberry's and left and had a huge party. ( )
