** spoiler alert ** The main character is called Thomas, and he is a tenacious young man who ruined the future of The Glade, the enclosed space all the boys live in. I think the way Dashner portrayed him as an extremely driven boy with a darker past really added a twist to the otherwise normal characters. Because Thomas was portrayed as determined to help the men of the Glade, it was easy to think he was a truly good boy. Thought, you later learn his past raises many questions about his purpose in The Glade. ‘“It was you and me, Tom. We did this to them. To us.”’ (Dashner 184). This shows the darker side of Thomas, he rooted for his new co habitants, only to have his true past come out after an eventful night.
