The setting of this series is really interesting to me. In contrast to other dystopian worlds in YA novels this one is not described to the reader in the beginning and even the characters have no idea why are they on that glade and how they came to it. The mystery around this is explained step by step within the story and in the end I got some revelations but there was still enough mystery that I am excited to pick up the next book in the series. That was really cleverly done.
However, this book has no kind of introduction or prologue in the beginning but started in the middle of the action. That´s of cause an interesting idea but was unfortunately one of the reasons why I had to struggle a bit at the beginning to dive into the story.
The characters were really likable to me in general (some more than others) but at some places their building of friendship between each other came to fast for me. I just think some characters needed a bit more time to develop.
Overall I decided to give 3.5 of 5 Stars to this solid beginning of a series with a lot of potential in my opinion.
