The Maze Runner (The Maze Runner, #1)

My first suggestion is to read the "Maze Runner" before you see the movie. I did the opposite, and some of the major points were different so it added to my confusion level. Despite this however, this was a great book. I enjoy reading books with similar themes about the future of the world, like the "Hunger Games". While reading this book, I kept making comparisons to "Lord of the Flies" and I'm pretty sure that James Dashner drew a lot of inspiration from the classic novel. Both books feature a group of boys, isolated from the rest of the world, having to create their own society with a leader, fighters, farmers/gatherers, etc. I really liked the suspense of the book, as no one had any memories until they are "stung" by a "griever" and how Thomas, the main protagonist, changed everything by being there. However, I have to say I'm a sucker for happy endings and when Chuck is killed at the very end, my heart broke. If you enjoy books similar to the "Hunger Games," I recommend this book to you.
