it was amazing

This book has been in my TBR pile for a while - obviously - and I'm asking myself why I waited this long to read it.

I broke a personal cardinal rule and watched the movie before reading this book and though I didn't remember exactly what happened, I had a general idea of where the story was going. Without some inkling of what was happening in this book, there's no way I'd have been able to put it down, and probably would have read it in one sitting. The author is so skilled at keeping the suspense heightened, gradually revealing piece by piece of the puzzle, I was mesmerized.

Other reviews have mentioned the slang the Gladers used, saying it was difficult to understand, but after the first ten pages or so, that wasn't an issue for me and I found it amusing more than anything.

The world-building was phenomenal, the characterization wonderful and diverse, and the pacing exceptional. With the second movie coming out soon, there's no way I'll see it before reading The Scorch Trials.
