I decided to read this book as the movie was coming out and the concept seemed interesting, also it had some great reviews and I expected it to be quite good. The book started off quite boring and dragged on for the first section, up till the night in the maze. I found it to be quite a unique, intriguing plot line, if only it weren't so slow to start. After the night in the maze, it got back to a slower pace and the only reason I can say I finished the book was because of the mysteriousness and my curiosity to find out the truth.

The writing wasn't bad, but there were some overly-repeated explanations, such as the explanation of the fact that despite his memory loss, this was the most ___ he was sure to have experienced. It was an annoying phrase that was repeated too often:
""Thomas had no memory of his life before the Box, but he was positive he’d finished the worst twenty-four hours of his existence.""
""Finally, he was left alone, his head resting on the softest pillow his limited memory could recall.""
""He couldn’t remember much, but something told him he’d never disliked someone so strongly.""
etc.
We get it, he doesn't remember the past. Dashner tends to state the obvious a little too often.

Otherwise, I found this read to be quite enjoyable.
