it was amazing

** spoiler alert ** Have you ever woken up in a place you've never seen, or been to, have no memory of family, friends, or what you look like? Well Thomas did. He woke up in a moving elevator. But not a normal one, one that led somewhere. Anyway I first saw the movie and loved it. But now that I read the book I don't like it as much because in the movie they changed a lot of things and I personally didn't like it. The genre of this book would be something like science fiction.

So my book is about a guy named Thomas. The setting in this book is in the Glade and/or maze. This takes place in the future (I'm assuming) and I would say that it might be fall or summer. The major event is that Thomas shows up and everything changes. And by that I mean everything starts to be different. Like a girl shows up whose name is Teresa and in the two years that the others have been there, there has never been a girl there. There's this kid that got stung and when you're "stung" you have weird side effects and there's no cure. Or so they thought. Another major event is when Thomas gets his memories back, oh yeah so they all don't have their memories. Anyway he gets his memories and in those memories he realizes that he and Teresa worked with the people/creators that put them there. They don't know why they worked with them because it was in the past. So they worked with the creators whose company name is W.I.C.K.E.D. When Teresa first came she remembered these lines "wicked is good" and the creators say that. The last major event is when Thomas gets them out of the Maze. This book is person vs person or person vs society because they have to go up against the creators but yet each other because Gally who thinks he's the boss wants to kill Thomas. He hates him and at the end he tries to kill him. I would say that the theme is team work, caring for others, trusting others, and working together. They did this all throughout the whole story.

The title relates to the book because later in the story Thomas gets to be a Maze Runner. A Maze Runner is when you run in the maze, trying to find a way out. Minho, one of the maze runners has looked everywhere and says that there's no escape. Everyone has different jobs and Thomas knew that he wanted to be and was going to be a Maze Runner. So they eventually found a way out, through the griever hole. Thomas' motivation would be his friends, I mean they all want to get out and that's exactly why a he wants to do and that's exactly what he did. A major event that changed Thomas was when Chuck got shot by Gally who was trying to kill Thomas. Minho threw a stick (a big one) threw his heart but Gally already pulled the trigger but Chuck went in front of Thomas. Gally died and sadly so did Chuck. Chuck was like a brother to Thomas and when I saw that part in the movie I cried because it's just so sad especially how Thomas reacted he really did t want Chuck to die like that. He promised Chuck that he'll meet his own parents, and before he died he gave him something to remember him, something he wanted to give him before when he got locked in the small little jail.

I was angry when James wrote that Chuck died. I was crying with Thomas and it made me really sad to read/see him crying because Chuck was a part of me while I was reading this. I was surprised too because Chuck was only like 12 and he was so young, the youngest of them all actually, and he died. Gally was stung and that's why he wanted to shoot Thomas. I love how James made the book, how he made it kind of in third point of view and I personally can't wait to read Scorch Trials.

Okay so I absolutely love this book. It kinda changed my mind about the movie but let me tell you this the books are always better then the actual movies because it tells you things that the movie doesn't show or the emotions the characters have. I give it a 5/5 it was a really amazing book. I recommend this book to people who like things like survival, teamwork, adventure, and caring about others. I can't wait to read the other books in the series and can't wait to see The Death Cure next year. Where will Thomas and his friends go next?
