SPOILERS IN REVIEW JUST SAYING

3.5/5. I'm iffy about whether I truly liked this or not. There were definitely parts that I loved but the overall feeling was just, eh. I didn't really like Thomas. I know he was supposed to be one of the top Gladers/experimentees but it felt unrealistic and he asked so many dumb questions.

basically how this conversation went down in my mind:

Chuck - Ben's locked up in the slammer. Thomas - *gasp* The Slammer??? What's that mean???. Chuck - the jail you dummy *wtf look*. Thomas - oh. Chuck - hes gonna get Banished. Thomas - BANISHED???? WHAAAaaaAAaaAaaaaAAat does THAT meaAAn??

Me: wtf is wrong with you boy.

And he's perfectly able to run 5 million miles a day without ANY prior training? No.
And he's going around questioning all the shit the rest of the gladers have been doing for the past 2 years like he owns the place? NO.
And he breaks the first bloody rule of the Glade to save 2 others heroically, survives the night bravely, and is suddenly a god to the people?? well, maybe that was kinda cool... BUT I AGREE WITH GALLY. SOMETHING AIN'T RIGHT ABOUT THIS SLINTHEAD!
And HE's the one to break the code for the maze... Because HE'S THE ONE WHO HELPED DESIGN IT AND WHO'S SOME SORT OF BOY GENIUS GODDAMN NO.

CHUCK. CHUCK. CHUCK... SHUCKING CHUCK. goddamn James Dashner is a cruel man.
He was so young and had such high hopes.... :'(. At least the death was pretty realistic (based off my info garnered from watching crime shows and Sherlock). But why you gotta break my heart like that :[

All in all, it was pretty good and an enjoyable read despite my issues with it. I probably won't reread this ever, but will 1000% be reading the next books. I'll also watch the movie and do a comparison review probably.
