** spoiler alert ** What if you woke up one day and forgot everything you knew? Thomas is a teen who finds himself stuck in the “glade” with many other people. There is only one way out and that is through the maze. But scary creatures guard the maze at night. A type of creature that can make someone go crazy after one sting. The teens just want to go home but they don’t know where home is.

Dasher uses symbolism in The Maze Runner. The maze represents difficulties in our life and we have to overcome it. The grievers represent the challenges that come into our daily life. I would recommend The Maze Runner to teens and young adults. The novel is appealing because of the concept of waking up and not knowing what is going on or who you are. For example, “And yet he didn’t know where he came from, or how he’d gotten inside the dark lift, or who his parents were.” (Dashner, 2) Another example, “My name is Thomas, he thought. That….that was the only thing he could remember about his life.” (Dashner,1)
