The Maze Runner (The Maze Runner, #1)
by
Maze runner is a great book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It was really entertaining. It fits into a category in where there are a lot of books but this book stands out. I was really into the book. It contained that “something” that hooks you to continue reading the book. This is something that is not common nowadays, especially when you are assigned the book.
The book reminded me a lot of The Hunger Games. In both of the books the main characters are located in an arena of sorts. The only difference in that in The Hunger Games you know what is going on since the beginning while in The Maze Runner you don't know what is going on. I think this is an essential part of the book because it is the fact that you are as clueless as Thomas that drives you to read more and more of the book. You are eager to know more about what is going on. Also , I realized that Dashner ended almost every single chapter with a “hooking punchline” that made you turn the page and read more and more.
I found the book very interesting. It had things that I doubt anybody could have thought of. The plot seems very interesting and Dashner did a great job in creating characters that you would like and characters that you would hate. The story was filled with action and I give props to Dashner for having the imagination to create a universe like this. The book really makes you want to read the next part. The only thing that I didn't like was the lack of description of the day to day life of the maze before Thomas arrived. I found the Glade interesting and I would have liked a little more about it and the first generation of kids. Overall, I enjoyed this book thoroughly and time seemed to go faster as I read it, I didn't get bored at all. I just wanted to read and read and read. I would definitely recommend it.
