it was amazing

** spoiler alert ** The 374 page novel, The Maze Runner, by James Dashner, is a fiction book that is about a group of boys who get sent to the maze to make a solution for sun flares. Sun flares happen when the sun is getting too hot and starting to shoot the rays of it toward the Earth. As a result, a group called WICKED, World In Catastrophe: Killzone Experiment Department, gathered a group of intelligent boys to crack a code that the maze makes. They eventually figured it out 2 years after the first boy came to the maze. A little before the maze is solved, Thomas and Teresa, who helped to create the maze and can speak telepathically, show up with their memories gone, just like everyone else. The weird thing about them coming, is that they came back to back. Thomas one day and Teresa the next day. This has never happened. The whole community is split up in groups about the career that they choose. Runners who run all day through the maze. They can’t run through the night because grievers, robotic vicious dogs, could kill them. Thomas and Minho, main characters, are both runners. Frypan, the cooker, and Chuck, the slopper, eventually become the best of friends with Thomas, along with Newt, Alby, Gally, and Minho. They have keepers of each job, and all the keepers make up a council. The council decides what happens as a punishment, or if something weird keeps going… like the end of the book. The sky started, stopped shining, it was gray. The grievers started to come out during the day and night. The council got together to find out what to do, and they figure a way out of the maze.
Personally, the way James Dashner made the book really exciting is something I favored. In the book Newt says, “Minho and Ably- they’re going to look at the bugging dead griever.” When Minho found the dead griever while running, Minho takes Alby with him to prove that it really did happen. Whenever they got back to the griever and Alby poked it, it stung Alby. This was exciting because Alby got stung, and it was the complete opposite of what we would have thought. I admired how the setting was in a maze because I know what it's like to be in a maze, but not that kind of maze. They were able to use their knowledge, work hard, and figure a way out of the maze. Something I was fond of was how James Dashner finished the book. He ends the book just like a chapter which makes the reader want to read on to find out what else happens next. Finally, I was done with the book, and I was happy with the ending because they got out of the maze. I would recommend this book to those who have read Divergent and liked it.
