The Maze Runner (The Maze Runner, #1)

I loved the Maze Runner. Of course there is the undeniable comparison to Hunger Games and Divergent which must be made. It's way better than Divergent but maybe not as surprising as Hunger Games. I think Maze Runner was fast paced and exciting. I also was intrigued by this dystopian world created by the author. Young men live in this world surrounded by walls and a maze. They are given provisions by way of a box that comes from some unknown place. They know they are part of some experiment controlled by a creator. They are sent Thomas who is different and feels a need to go to the Maze. Thomas is a Christ like figure, recognized by some as different and one who will lead them out of the Maze and feared by others as a traitor who will lead them to their demise. There are many themes in this book to think about and to connect to our world. Excellent read for teens and adults. Now I will watch the movie and hopefully it does the book justice.

I've started to read some YA novels but I can't get into the dystopia plot lines. Emma did love this series. You should read The Fifth Wave series. Emma loves that one too. Although, it doesn't seem to have done well in the box office.

I just watched the movie and I thought it was excellent. It reminded me a little bit of Lord of the Flies.
