The Maze Runner By James Dashner

I decided to read The Maze Runner by James Dashner after my friend had recommended it to me and also after watching the movie.

The plot of The Maze Runner starts out with a boy called Thomas who wakes up in an elevator and arrives in a large clearing called the Glade.
The Glade is full of teenage boys and is surrounded by giant stone walls. Outside the glade there is a large maze which holds the key to escape but even after 2 years the 50 or so teenagers still hadn’t found a way out.

I enjoyed reading The Maze Runner because of its action and adventure. With its fast paced and immersing chapters, it was great to read and I finished it very quick.

I found the character Newt from the Maze Runner interesting because of his undying determination and faith which helps everyone escape. He is the leader of the ‘Gladers’ and keeps everything in order.

From this book I learnt that not only determination is needed in life or death situations but also wits and thinking out side of the box.
