The book has an amazing concept and larger worldbuilding, but we see little of it implemented here. I blame the entire amnesia thing. It's hard to build proper tension when characters operate on bare minimum of data. They are also not asking all the right questions which makes me doubtful they are as smart as they are supposed to be. Then again, most of them are pretty young to begin with and obviously not in the possession of their full faculties. The mind-wipe card wreaks havoc with this book in my opinion. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it enough to read the sequel. I hope for more explanations there. The teaser about sinister things to come at the very end was soo delicious. :D I also hope for more characterization because so many of the boys are reduced to their reactions.
