I haven't read many dystopian novels but Divergent is definitely my favorite, so far.

Books that get a ton of hype tend to fall short for me. Thankfully, Divergent didn't fall into that category. I was sucked in from the very first page. I won't sit here and say this book is perfect because it isn't but honestly, what book is? Every single book has faults.

Everyone is comparing Divergent and The Hunger Games. Why? I have no idea. They are not similar aside from the fact that they are both considered dystopian novels. You're also trying to compare a debut author against someone who has been writing longer than the first one has been born. In my opinion, Divergent is a better book than The Hunger Games. I have always viewed books as my escape from reality and that's exactly what I did when I read it.. I escaped.

Tris is an interesting character. I don't love her, I don't hate her.. but I am drawn to her.She doesn't seem to know who she is and she's waging a war within herself throughout the entire book. She's lost and confused like a normal teenager, even if there is nothing normal about her life. She can be selfish at times and makes the wrong decisions but isn't that exactly why she chose what she chose at the beginning? Sorry to say but I was sick of the cookie-cutter perfect protagonist.

What I really enjoyed is that there wasn't an overwhelming amount of romance. It worked out nicely that there was just enough and it left me wanting more. To be quite honest, EVERYTHING about this book left me wanting more. Good thing Insurgent comes out in just a couple of weeks!

Katy I agree 100% about the romance part. I'm a sucker for good romances like any other girl, but I hate when the romance overshadows the story itself. I absolutely loved the relationship between Tris and Four- it was beautifully simple and sweet.
