did not like it

I did not like this book. I didn’t find anything redeeming about it. There wasn’t a single character I connected with or felt anything toward. I felt like it showed an excessive amount of bullying, which no one ever does anything about. All of the kids at the school are rude and cliquish. The only time they demonstrated working together as a group was to create an extensive list of swear words. Greg never sticks to anything he starts, and he never succeeds at anything. He also gives advice on how to sneak things past your parents. I am not completely sure why these books are so popular. I do know that my students love them. Both the boys and the girls. They also don’t read just one, they read the whole set. I didn’t mind when there were only three or four of them. But now, with so many in the series, I have a hard time getting them to move on to something else. I'm glad I read the book so I can talk to my students about them, but I don't think I would ever recommend them to anyone.
