I have heard great things about this "Classic Book" and after loving the movie series of The Lord Of the Rings, and the movie adaptation of The Hobbit this Christmas I Wanted to read it. It is written good. But I personally never felt much development for any characters other than Bilbo. The plot was good but I never felt like they were ever in danger. It went from one situation to another very fast and without many stakes. However it was a brisk read. But it lacked an emotional punch that I had hoped I would receive. I still can not wait to see the movie. I know Peter Jackson will bring the epic punch that I wanted from this.
