Okay, don’t kill me if you loved this book. I know some who thought this was a masterpiece, and I know others who couldn’t get past the second chapter. I didn’t want to continue after the second chapter, but I forced myself to. The ideas are not that bad…The ideas I really had no problem with, and actually learned a lot about during my undergraduate studies. I just could not stand the author. See, I’m the type of person who appreciates empirical evidence and science and some kind of support when making a claim. The author expects you to take everything he says simply as-is. His answers to some of the “questions” are “You’re not listening,” or “You don’t understand.” This doesn’t really fly with me. He also used a number of quotes from Jesus and the Bible, which that alone I have no issues with. My issue is that he takes these vague analogies and says “What they really mean is…” and that kind of annoys me. I am pretty sure there are people who go to school their whole life, devoting themselves to studying theology. You’re telling me you just happen to know the true meaning of everything Jesus and the Bible truly meant? #endrant
