A note: Most of my experience with this work was through an audio book medium (which on second thought makes sense given the question and answer format of the text).
Don't get me wrong - a lot of this text can be very well applied and the metaphors explored to have a very positive effect on your psyche. Tolle does demonstrate wonderful imagery that provokes a eureka moment now and again.
But my main concern is that, much like modern medicine, he treats a symptom (not being present, over-thinking) rather than the cause or the root of the problem. It is my opinion that he even aggravates the problem through some condescending dialogue with the reader (starting answers with "you're not listening" from any mentor isn't very productive on the journey to self development).
I would greatly recommend other texts before diving into this one - which I found to be hyper critical rather than instructive in its nature.
