This book was terribly difficult to get through. The writing style was repetitive and vague which I found very frustrating. He kept not really saying anything over and over again. I found that especially trying in the final chapter about surrender. Maybe it was because it was the same question asked different ways and he didn't answer it in a coherent manner at any point.

I also found Tolle presumptuous. There were times when he would quote Jesus or a Buddhist monk and would actually say, "Jesus said __ , but what he meant was __." I understand that he was trying to expound upon an idea in a more relatable manner, but he was talking in riddles just like they were and came off like a pompous ass while doing it.

Another reason I found it difficult to really get behind this book is any questions or objection you could or would have to his theories were simply written off as you being too entrenched in your mind. I suppose if you believe in this philosophy that is a correct conclusion, but it feels like a cop out to me.

I did find some tiny glimpses of interesting ideas, and I would say that his overall message might be worthwhile. However, this book is a very poor representation of that idea.
