The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment

Interesting way of explaining the ancient concepts of Zen and the power of focusing on the present. I admit to having a problem with any philosophy that recommends actively discounting the mind. It has taken thousands of years and many, many generations to strengthen out frontal lobes. It is this that raises us above other animals--this sentience.
As a method to silence the mind periodically for health, for sanity--absolutely. To help us bring ourselves into the present and live in the joy of now--yes. To allude to the mind as somehow evil--not so much.
