The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment

The core message of the book rings true, and is very much related to the practice of mindfulness (and its scientific foundations) and the eastern traditions of meditation, specifically Buddhism.
As Tolle himself explains, his words are merely signposts pointing towards the truth, and not the truth itself. It's possible, therefore, to read the book just for the core message of living in the now, and accepting that reality, becoming fully conscious, and ignoring all the hogwash and pseudoscientific lingo he drags into his narrative.
It does become a frustrating read, though, because it seems contradictory, when the message is about presence in the Now and not identifying with ' mind stuff', while at the same time Tolle is claiming to be part of a growing number of people taking the next evolutionary step in consciousness. He talks about humanity taking a 'quantum leap', about Divine Essence and getting to know God, about death and the body being illusions, about experiencing Eternity and Infinity.
