This book was kind of a “meh” for me. I listened to the audio version and the most memorable thing was probably the author’s accent, which was totally funky and every time he said “ego” it sounded like “eagle”. (Research revealed that he is a German who later studied in England. That explains it.)

Tolle borrows from pretty much all spiritual traditions. The book is organized so that there’s no beginning or end. Some of what he says seems useful, like the idea that all we have, and all we will ever have, is the present. The past has ceased to exist, the future hasn’t begun to exist yet. He advises living in the now as much as possible, while he admits it is necessary sometimes to plan or remember in order to function in life.

Then, at other times, what he talks about just seems like mystical, abstract rubbish. But maybe it’s me.
