Where I thoroughly enjoyed “The Power of Now”—especially in the way Tolle fills in many of gaps in other similarly themed works—I found that the author’s views on relationships were out of synch with my own. I found Tolle’s assumption that relationships are between men and women to be rife with tired old stereotypes, and frankly antiquated. His cursory mention of gay relationships near the end of the section seemed almost like an afterthought.

Although I found the vast majority of what Tolle said to be illuminating, I must be honest that this particular aspect of the book pulled me out of the stream.
