Rebranded Buddhism? It probably is. Some ideas are relevant and timeless. They just need to be resaid. Tolle touches on some of the key points: impermanence, consciousness, forgiveness, etc. Tolle's writing is at times forceful and penetrative, but gets to be very meandering. I gave up.

There were some powerful take away messages about observing the mind. They affected my day to day positively. Though, I think the key to inner transformation can't be found in a book. It was a paradox reading a book (using my mind to comprehend words and ideas) about the power of separating your being from your mind.

In the book, he expresses totally unsympathetic views with homosexuality. I understand that people steeped in Eastern Philosophy appreciate duality, but that doesn't mean sexual love is strictly between a man and woman.

The other complaint I have is that the Q&A format is a funny way to write.
