According to Tolle, the road to happiness is to live in the moment. But the very fact that we have inalienable needs and desires makes this impossible. Our mind, in looking in the future, and trying to plan and strategize, is nothing more but an attempt to find ways to ease our pains and fulfill our dreams and desires. SO for those people this book is harmful, because it distracts them from their true goals, and makes them unprepared for the future.

That being said, there are people who are truly stuck in nasty situations, and have no hope for a better future, for those people, and only them, this book can be a real help, as living in the presence and not thinking about impending doom, might generate a feeling of relief.
