I read a few reviews to get my bearings a bit and noticed the tendency to promote with 5 stars or denigrate with one. In my review I want to rate on the basis on the general reward of the book and the level of execution of the writer, expressing my personal views in the comments section but leaving out of the ratings calculation. Tolle did an outstanding job articulating the realm many term indesribable. The book, though sectioned, seemed not to wander exactly, but to double back on itself. I was most intrigued when Tolle mentioned anecdotes of Zen masters, for example, or sprinkled in bible verses. In my view the biblical alusions attributed a whole new (read false) meaning to the gospel of Jesus as if to say "see? Jesus is on our team, too, no need to fear." For me the book served as a distillation of New Age thought by a talented, articulate and deep-thinking spokesman. The material often felt so metaphysical as to be non-sensical and lacked teeth when applied to real life situations.
