I came to this book after reading Towards a New Earth also by Eckhart Tolle first. Towards a New Earth has been my favorite book on Spirituality for years (Only recently deposed by The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, but these two books are so different that they can both be my favorite) but this book did not resonate with me. The central purpose is a very good message that we should all be reminded of, that I should be more in the present moment. But the execution of the book is poorly done. First, the word choice of the book is terrible, Tolle talks about 'tuning into frequencies,' and 'using the body as a portal.' The word choice does not bother me too much, but I could never recommend this book to someone because it reads like it was written by a soft minded person. Tolle's other book, Towards a New Earth, is very good about not using very new agey terms, so I think he got this complaint from many people and adjusted his writing style. Secondly, the book just gets way too far out there, and way too unmoored from everyday experience. I don't have any examples, but Tolle just really blasts off into hyperspace and says some pretty crazy stuff. Once again, Towards a New Earth is better about keeping the book just about the basics, not telling the reader things they are probably not ready to hear about. So, instead of this book, I would recommend Towards A New Earth, The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, or The Untethered Soul.
